A HOME AWAY FROM HOME:NSS CAMP

"Bye bye DADA , bye bye Tai, straight through hearts of tiny tots of Jamgaon touched us when with a very heavy heart we were about to leave.I wonder were those 8 days of camp, "A Dream or A Reality ??". For me, camp at Jamgaon, conjured up images of fun, peace and tranquility. To imagine oneself in that picturesque was a dream come true. With all the memories of camp, still fresh in my mind, I would pen down a few of them.
Amidst the early morning fog and gripping old at Jamgaon , we began our day with exercises keeping us fit and then, moved towards the most awaited group task i.e "SHRAMDAN".It helped us to contribute our little effort to make 'NIRMAL GRAM -> JAMGAON' ,a little better.
After a bit of rest next Fragment of the day was spent indulging in speeches of many great intellectuals ,who belonged to the ' CREME DE LA CREME' of our society. Beginning with , on 4th Jan, Dr. Shirish Apte made a note to speak on, "Personality Development Through Social Service", briefing about his experiences and improvement of oneself by self analysis. Similarly on 5th Jan Mr.A.B.Deshpande putforth his perspective on the topic,"BHARAT-EK RASHTRA" on basis of the flaws in both, the political and geographical significance of our country, motivating youth for the betterment of tomorrow. Next morning, on 6th Jan , Dr.Ashok Patwardhan held a free eye check up camp for the villagers. The same afternon was accompanied by a social activity , "GRANTH DINDI" ,a procession in memory of Sant Dnyandev which sent everybody into frenzy, swaying along with chants of, " NIVRUTI DNYANDEV SOPAN MUKTABAI EKNATH NAMDEV TUKARAM". It filled entire milieu with zeal of holiness. That evening experienced sanctity when Mr.Avinash Pitale discoursed eloquently about Pasaydaan.
On 7th Jan, Mr.Dnyanesh Purandare of 'Swaroop Vardhini' enlightened us with most inspiring biography of the great Swami Vivekananda. Following which students pledged that they would protect environment, conserve fuel & electricity & contribute towards welfare of Jamgaon. Ultimately on 8th Jan , the most awaited conversation with Prof(Dr).A.S.Abhyankar referring to "BRAIN DRAIN", impregnated the feeling of responsibility towards INDIA.All these were motivating sessions for students as well.
Then came the time for each NSS volunteer to recall their childhood through educational activity. All the energies in the camp seemed to be channelized towards our very own, " DATTAK GHAR" because it reflected the shadow of our homes. Nothing less but we felt at home!!! At a personal level , when I deligently taught Ruchita and Sakshi Malusare,it was a great sense of satisfaction & fun.
Apart from all this, few things that added up to our memories were late night bonfire, trekking and ultimately a visit to Coca-Cola factory. Also what remains into memory is life of people at Jamgaon. If an artist wishes to point those scenes at Jamgaon, he would have blend of emotions to potray on his canvas which I shall pen down. Narrow roads , small smoke filled chullas in mud house, cocks and hens running through , things out of time like bullock cart, hand pumps, wells is what beautifies Jamgaon. Along with the most helpful, big at heart village dwellers.
Not forgetting that our seniors were the actual trendsetters who highlighted paramount importance of dedication towards development of Jamgaon. Along with teachers , who played pivoted role in elevating our lives to a newrealm of enlightenment through NSS camp. On behalf of S.E. I take the formal opportunity to thank them for their undaunting support and guidance.
Today, as we look back at Jamgaon, it gives a wonderful feeling of being a part of it. It gave us experience of adjusting ourselves in a completely new environment with better commodities. A sense of responsibility, independence imbibed. Unknowingly, we found ourselves more organized and disciplined. After observing the daily routine and the way of living of students in Jamgaon, we dawned upon realization of being very lucky in terms of everything. What we have received at Jamgaon that is Commendable and evelasting.I feel indebted.
Thus life at camp didn't end after leaving it. Memories that are left behind are carried along . I feel it is just the beginning. It is now time for us to put our hand together for this noble thought of 'Development Of Jamgaon'.Lastly, I feel we all will become ENGINEERS with an X-factor of being a “NSS VOLUNTEER”.
