VIIT is affiliated to SavitribaiPhule Pune University. It runs under graduate programmes in Civil, Computer, Electronics & Telecommunication, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering, post graduate programmes in Civil, Computer, Electronics & Telecommunication and Mechanical Engineering and Ph.D. programmes in Civil, Electronics & Telecommunication and Mechanical Engineering. Design of curriculum, conduction of examination and evaluation is carried by SavitribaiPhule Pune University.

Dean Academics takes the responsibility of academic development of the institute. He monitors the progress of various teaching/learning processes and is responsible for staff development through training programs, industrial visits, seminars, conferences, workshops etc. He is also responsible to liaison with various institutes, universities etc.

Satish Chinchanikar is currently working as a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and holding a position as Dean Academics at Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology, Pune, India. He received his Ph.D (Mechanical Engineering) from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India and received Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Engineering with the specialization in manufacturing engineering from Pune University, India in 1995 and 1998 respectively. His main research interest is in tribological studies in metal cutting and advanced manufacturing processes. Currently, he is working in the area of machining of hardened steel using coated carbide tools as an economical alternative to costly cubic boron nitride and ceramic tools. Satish Chinchanikar has published more than 80 papers in the International Journals and Conferences. He has written a book chapter on “Finish machining of hardened steels” published by Elsevier in Materials Science and Materials Engineering. He has also written a book on “Advanced Manufacturing Processes”. He has been awarded with excellent paper presentation certificate at International Conference in Key Engineering Materials at Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia in 2013. He is working as a reviewer of many peer reviewed International Journals. He strongly believes that teaching and research should go hand in hand.
