Formed in 1965, the CSI has been instrumental in guiding the Indian IT industry down the right path since its formative years. Today, the CSI has 70 chapters all over India, 418 student branches, and more than 90000 members including India's most famous IT industry leaders, brilliant scientists and dedicated academicians. The mission of the CSI is to facilitate research, knowledge sharing, learning and career enhancement for all categories of IT professionals, while simultaneously inspiring and nurturing new entrants into the industry and helping them to integrate into the IT community. The CSI is also working closely with other industry associations, government bodies and academia to ensure that the benefits of IT advancement ultimately percolate down to every single citizen of India.
The CSI chapter started in 2010 in VIIT. With that 500 student are registered and participated in the various activity conducted by CSI.
The CSI VIIT Student Branch of Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology, Pune has organized a one day National Level Conference and Project Competition for students of Computer Engineering and Information Technology. It is to be held on 2nd March 2013 in the institute. This event aims at showcasing the technical expertise and creativity of students. To motivate the students we also have cash prizes for papers and projects. A CSI certificate of participation will be issued to all students whose paper/project is selected. Students will be invited for participation after a further round of selection and will be awarded certificate of presentation
