ROBOCON:
Every year a team of 30 students participates to a National Level Robotics event ROBOCON. This includes design and development of Manual and Autonomous robots required as per the theme given by the organizers of the ROBOCON. This activity is fully sponsored by the management of the VIIT. We  ranked 12 in ROBOCON12 out of 64 participated teams, which includes major IIT ‘s and NIT’s.
   
Since last three years college carries out an intercollegiate technical activity called “Perception”. This event contains various technical event competitions such as C programming, Circuit design, Robotics ,Paper presentation etc. More than 900 students from Maharashtra state participate in this event.This event is mainly sponsored by IEEE pune Subsection.
   
College has full functional students branch of IEEE (USA) and IET (UK) through which various lectures by professors from foreign universities, eminent personalities from industries. Different workshops are arranged for students and staff. Example For students , since last two years college organized workshop on Digital signal Processing by professors from IIT Bombay , In March 2008 , workshop on Artificial Intelligence for staff by Dr.Sunil Vadra, salford University UK is organized.
   
'Avishkar' is a cultural commune of our college. Students are participating actively in intercollegiate, reputed and famous drama competitions like “Purushottam” and “Firodiya ” since last few years.
   
Students are allowed to participate in other intercollegiate event such as “Verve” and Elocution competition held by University of Pune.
   
VIIT has established Industry Institute Interaction Cell to promote greater interaction between Industry and Academia. Last year we had two meetings of this Cell for Identification of training possibilities for our faculty members in industry. Four faculty members were trained at various industries during the summer vacation in May / June 2007. This year also five more faculty members will be deputed for industry training, the coming summer vacation.
   
VIIT has taken up several research, training and consultancy assignments. During the year, assignments from  Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran Ltd., M/S Optra Systems, Wevelet Technologies, System Consultants, Prime Technologies etc., were taken for different projects for product developments,  consultancy and corporate training.
   
VIIT identified R & D and Consultancy as focus area and management is pleased to sanction an initial amount of Rs. 12 Lakhs for setting up of centre of excellence in R & D, VIIT had submitted five Research projects to University of Pune and all the five projects have been sanctioned by the University Research Committee with total of Rs. 8.5 lacs.
   
We have started YCMOU Study Centre  for training the students for computer oriented corses.
   
Considering the importance of  entrepreneurship development, a specific Cell has been established under the leadership of Prof. R.S. Acharya.
   
VIIT is also quite active in the area of National Social Service. In this context as a part of ‘Samarth Bharat Abhiyan’ scheme proposed by our Honorable Vice-Chancellor of University of Pune, Dr. Narendra Jadhav, VIIT Management has adopted a village “Jamgaon – Desali” in Mulashi Taluka in Pune Dist., around 35 kms., from Pune.
   
The staff of the college is also active in technical and social forums. Dr.TavildarIs chairman of IEEE signal processing society ,Bombay section and Prof.Dandawate is secretary of the same. Prof. Khurjekar is holding the post of Chairman of IEEE pune subsection.
