Entrepreneurship Development Cell

Vishwapreneur 2019 - Vishwapreneur 2019 was conducted on the 7th, 8th and 9th of February. This year’s event was conducted in 3 parts. It started off with the Open Floor, then the Smart Sociothon Competition and then the two-day Convention.
  • Open Floor - This part of the event was conducted on 7th of February at the Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe Auditorium, Satara Road. Vishwapreneur 2019 had an Open Floor, which was a very new concept to bring in with the annual event of the Cell. The Open Floor had six guest speakers, all of which have experienced the ups and downs of the corporate world and are the most favourable persons to gain knowledge from. The guests were known-personalities from various fields, namely, Mr. Jay Jain, founder of Astute Group; Mr. Nikhil Bhaskaran, founder of IotIot.in; Mr. Keerthi Kadam, Director of Pune Open Coffee Club; Mr. Siddharth Deshmukh, Managing Partner at Arimaya Ventures; Ms. Ankita Shroff, Founder of SAV Chemicals; Ms. Bhavna Lalchandani, Director, Brand Solutions at Saavn. The participants were very happy to have gained utmost knowledge from these personalities. All of the participants were start-up enthusiasts and are now highly motivated to work on their ideas.
  • Smart Sociothon - The Smart Sociothon competition was held on the 7th and 8th of February, 2019, at the Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe Auditorium, Satara Road. The selected top 30 teams arrived at the auditorium at 5:00 PM on 7th of February to start preparing their codes and models. The preparation time went on till 6:00 AM, the next day, where the models and codes were judged by juries form Pune Smart City and Pune Municipal Corporation. The judges were Mr. Sudin Baraokar, Mr. Arun Nair, Mr. Naval Alluwar and Mr. Utpal Chakraborty. These guests have been working on start-ups since the early ages of 17 and 18. These guests have immense knowledge about start-ups and how different projects can help and affect the things around us.
  • Convention
Day One-The two-day convention of Vishwapreneur 2019 had 7 keynote sessions and 2 panel discussions. The first day of the convention started off with the opening ceremony having Mr. Arun Firodiya, Chairman of Kinetic Group Pvt. Ltd., as the chief guest for the event. Following this was a monologue by Ms. Ayushee Jain, which officially announced the opening of the event.
The first session of the event was named ‘Start-up Ecosystems in India’ by Mr. Saurabh Jain, Vice President at Paytm and founder of Fun2Do Labs. He explained how Start-ups emerge and how they sustain in the Indian Ecosystem. He also explained how Paytm works in accordance with different aspects of the market.
The second session was ‘BootStart’ by Mr. Amit Sarda, Co-founder and Managing Director at Soulflower. He started working on start-ups at the early age of 16. He explained how even though he went bankrupt and fell off everything he had built for himself, he started a business of selling highly expensive soaps and essential oils by using the right marketing skills. 
The third session was a panel discussion between Ms. Prajakta Koli and Mr. Shreyans Jain. She is a famous YouTuber who goes by the name, ‘MostlySane’. She explained how only bringing out simple and funny content which is relatable to most of the people, you can reach a very big audience in a very small time.
The fourth session was a keynote session by Mr. Anirudha Pandita, founder of PocketAces, which is the parent company to DiceMedia, FilterCopy, Gobble and Loco Quiz. He described how the transition from traditional television to mobile entertainment took place and how PocketAces is responsible for most of this transition.
The last session of the first day was a panel discussion between the famous YouTubers who are also start-up enthusiasts themselves. The YouTubers were Mr. Gaurav Chaudhary, also known as Technical Guruji, and Mr. Nikhil Sharma, also known as Mumbiker Nikhil. The moderator was Mr. Shreyans Jain, the founder of Under25 Club. The YouTubers discussed how unstable and risky a YouTube career can be, but by staying consistent and giving in quality time to make good and creative content, your channel can really outsource itself in ways unexpected!
  
Day Two
The second day started off with a session called ‘The Road Not Taken’ by Mrs. Rashmi Bansal. She is an author and owner of JAM Magazine. She shared her journey from being just having a different profession and passion and then turning the both into one.
The next session was taken by Mr. M.G. ‘Ambi’ Parameswaran, founder of brand-building.com. He explained the different terms of marketing and branding of a product and also showed a lot of ads as examples for the terms. The session was very interesting and informative.
Following this, we have the second to last session of Vishwapreneur 2019. This session was called ‘The Next Wave’ by Mr. Akshay Mehrotra. He told us about the numerous problems a start-up has to tackle while entering the market. He showed us how he got EarlySalary.com into the market and solving the usual banking problems of a normal citizen.
The last session was a panel discussion between the social entrepreneurs, Mr. Upmanyu Patil, founder of Swayam Shikshan Prayog and Sakshi Unique Rural Enterprises; Mr. Prabhat Sinha, founder of Mann Deshi Champions; and Mr. Zubin Shamra, founder of Project Potential. The moderator for this session was Ms. Ankita Betala. The social entrepreneurs discussed the various social problems and the solutions that they have come up with. The session was very enlightening and found itself to be a reason for motivation in the hearts of the participants.
  • Parents Eve - The Entrepreneurship Development Cell conducted the annual Parents’ Eve program on the 9th of February, 2019. The parents of the organizing team interacted with Prof. Dr. R.S. Acharya, the Dean of student activities at VIIT, Pune. The parents were ecstatic to interact with Dr. Acharya and share their thoughts on the Cell and the accomplishments achieved by their children! Every person in the hall was extremely happy to have seen the progress of the team. The parents also interacted with each other and in a way, formed their own network as well! The evening ended on a very emotional event where everyone was cheerful and delighted with the success of the event!
