Vision: Excellence in Mechanical Engineering for Global Acceptance
Mission:
Make spirited mechanical engineers with morals, values and principles for sustainable development of society.
Strive continuously to impart knowledge and skills of the highest standards.
Our engineers will respond to the current and future needs of the industry, higher studies as well as research.
Mechanical Engineering plays a critical role in manufactured technologies, from cars to airplanes to refrigerators. It enables you to do many daily activities with ease, as it brings helpful technologies to our modern society. This field has continually evolved to incorporate advancements; today Mechanical engineers are pursuing developments in the area of composite and Mechatronics. It is also overlap with Aerospace, Metallurgical, Manufacturing and Industrial engineering. The Mechanical engineers may also work in the field of Biomedical Engineering. The present era demands the Engineers who have the capacity of adaptability and creativity in the new technical areas. To meet the above requirements, Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology (VIIT) started Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering course in 2007-08, Postgraduate course in 2012 and PhD course from 2014-15 in Pune. The Undergraduate course is two times NBA Accredited.
The Mechanical Engineering department has well Qualified, Experienced and committed faculty towards high academic standards, Industry connects and Research. The Department expertise is distributed in three domain namely Design, Heat power, Manufacturing and Materials. The curriculum balance through industrial involvement, scope of projects with project based learning (PBL) and industrial internships are the important outcomes of these domains. The department has PhD Research Guides who ensures the collective involvement of PhD, M-Tech and B.Tech students in their research work.
The Department has collaborative projects going on with various companies such as Atlas copco, Fluid Control, Aakar Foundary etc. The SUPRA and BAJA students technical activity is initiated in department since from 2012 and is consistently with in 10th rank in overall participation. This activity involves design and manufacturing of vehicle as per assigned standards and specification. The Mechanical Engineering Student Association (MESA) is an active team of students behind organization of Technical and Extra Curricular activities of the department.
During the Pandemic situation arise due to COVID19 from the middle of March 2020, the Department Teaching Learning, Examination, Evaluation and Research activities are continued their effective functioning with online mode. The Students and faculties contribute their excellence through development of products which includes easy sanitization mechanism, mask manufacturing and its distribution along with donation of funds.
