Hand Gesture Recognition :AICTE GOVT. SPONSORED


For hand gesture recognition the pattern recognition approach is most widely used due to its simplicity and effectiveness. This method has five steps-namely, VOP extraction, local or global motion determination, key frame selection, recognition using finite state machine (FSM) method and recognition using dynamic time warping (DTW) method with trajectory features. This project basically deals with the pattern recognition of hand gesture recognition system. In this, the unknown test image sequence is compared with standard images and measure similarity between the test image sequences and standard images. For similarity measurement, hausdorff distance is used in finite state machine method and euclidean distance is used in dynamic time warping method. These two methods are used for recognizing static as well as dynamic hand gestures. These two methods are used for recognizing static as well as dynamic hand gestures.
