d. Application of ANNs in Civil Engg –An innovative lecture series

This series was conducted by Prof. S. N. Londhe, Dr. P.R. Dixit, Dr. P. S. Kulkarni, in almost all the major institutes of SPPU within the Maharashtra and in few institutes outside of Maharashtra also.It is a continuous activity from 2018-19.

Inno 4

e. Development of new courses at UG and PG levels:

Faculties of Civil Engineering department has contributed in the new course development at VIIT and at SPPU for UG and PG level courses.

  • UG Level Course: TY BTECH: in SPPU: Prof. S. N. Londhe, Dr. P. R. Dixit, Dr. P.S. Kulkarni designed an open elective course of “Artificial Neural Network” in VIIT and SPPU and successfully implemented the course in 2020-21 , 2021-22.
  • PG Level Course: FY MTECH: Prof. S. N. Londhe designed an open elective course of “Soft Computing Techniques” in VIIT and successfully implemented the course in 2020-21, 2021-22.

f. Development of training program on formwork technique industry people:

Mr. R.A. Joshi trained the industry people for formwork technique

g. Development of staircase models: Dr. Preeti Kulkarni developed various staircase models for demonstrating various types of staircases to undergraduate students under the umbrella of building planning and construction courses.

Inno 5

h. Development of Plaster Machine:

Dr. A.G. Tanawade developed the plastering machine. This project focuses on establishing standard Quality Control/Quality Assurance guidelines for the cement mortar used in plastering machine. Additionally, the work also intends to develop improved Plastering Machine catering to the indigenous requirements and applications.

Inno 6

i. Construction of ferrocrete concrete water tank for Valene village: A joint effort of students and faculty of Civil Engg.

Department; Dr. A.G. Tanawade: VIIT’s Civil Engineering department constructed a Ferrocement Water Tank of capacity 2500 liters at the primary school of Valene village which is adopted by VIIT under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (#UBA) & National Service Scheme (#NSS); solving the crucial problem of water scarcity that was faced by the primary school students, especially during the summer season. Ferrocement Water Tank is a cost effective and durable solution to conventional plastic water tanks.

j. Inhouse development in FM lab of experimental set ups to explain the theoretical concepts through experimental set ups:

Dr. Dixit and Prof. Londhe along with Mr. Bhagat (lab assistant FM LAB) developed few experimental set ups which are in regular use for laboratory sessions of SY and TY BTECH students. Total 9 instrument set ups are there which are showcased below.

Outcome of the in-house development:

  • A joint effort of both faculty members and UG students resulting in experiential learning
  • Complex concepts taught in the classroom that are difficult to understand, are understood easily
  • Approximately more than 500 students have performed their experiments on these setups
