About the Programme:
From the academic year 2023–2024, the institute is offering an undergraduate engineering programme with a capacity of 60 in computer science and engineering, with a specialisation on Internet of Things, cyber security, and blockchain technology. Students who complete this undergraduate B.Tech CSE (IoT & Cyber Security including Blockchain Technology) degree become familiar with the functional and operational facets of IoT, Cyber Security, and Blockchain Technology.
The term "Internet of Things" (IoT) describes a network of interconnected physical objects, including machines, vehicles, appliances, and other things, that are equipped with connections, software, and sensors that allow them to gather and exchange data online. Making everyday objects "smart" by enabling them to interact, communicate, and analyse with the environment and other devices without the need for human intervention is the central idea underlying the Internet of Things (IoT).
Although the Internet of Things has the potential to revolutionise many sectors and our daily lives, it also presents difficulties that must be resolved to create a secure and prosperous IoT ecosystem.
According to projections, the global Internet of Things (IoT) market would increase at a CAGR of 26.1% from $662.21 billion in 2023 to $3,352.97 billion by 2030.
Protecting digital systems, networks, and data from numerous cyberthreats and attacks requires strong cybersecurity. It entails putting policies, practises, and technology in place to guard against malware infections, unauthorised access, data breaches, and other cyber risks.
The fast development of digital technology and their integration into almost every aspect of our lives has resulted in an enormous increase in the need for cybersecurity in recent years. It is brought on by the world's rising digitization, the sophistication of cyberthreats, and the potential repercussions of cyber events on people, organisations, governments, and society as a whole. By making significant investments in cybersecurity defences, we can increase the security of our linked digital ecosystem's key infrastructure, privacy, and digital assets.
The market for cybersecurity will keep growing. Even conservative projections see the market valuation reaching $376 billion by 2029, which would represent average growth of 13.4 percent yearly. If it keeps up its current pace, it will achieve a global revenue of nearly $650 billion in 2030.
Blockchain is a distributed, decentralised digital ledger technology that securely records transactions on numerous computers. It runs on a network of computers (called nodes) that collaborate to validate, store, and update data in a sequence of blocks to create a chronological chain of data. The decentralised, open, and secure nature of blockchain technology has the potential to transform many sectors and revolutionise how we transact, exchange value, and manage data in the digital age.
The size of the worldwide blockchain technology industry, estimated at $11.14 billion in 2022, is expected to increase by $469.49 billion by 2030, with a CAGR of 59.9% from $17.57 billion in 2023.
IoT, cybersecurity, and blockchain all have a bright future as their respective fields continue to evolve and intertwine.
