Department of Information Technology is established in 2002-03 with an intake of 60 to impart quality education in IT with stated vision and mission. Gradually that intake has been increased to 180. The department is accredited by NBA.
Information Technology plays a vital role in helping organizations to achieve profitable results and keep competitive forces in check. Keeping this objective in mind, young mindsets are educated here with full academic rigor to convert them into effective IT professionals. With the help of best of the infrastructure and the proper action plan, we train and educate engineers of outstanding ability who can become leaders in their profession. We also associate closely with industrial leaders to help students in undertaking programs needed in their respective domains. This sort of focused efforts definitely helped all our students from overall development of the students.
The department is instrumental in conducting various technical and non-technical activities for students as well as faculty members. The focus is not only technical stuff but also moral values, ethics, professionalism and so. Regular classes of latest technologies are being conducted for students. On a continuous basis, students are made aware about the latest industry trends and needs in various technological domains. Well-motivated competent faculty members are always engaged in student’s welfare. Encouragement and guidance is offered to the students for participating in sports and various extracurricular activities to highlight and strengthen their non-technical skills. As an outcome, department has brought different laurels for the department. Our academic rigor, Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) Approach in all sorts of activities aspects have made this department to be a one of the best choice for UG admission aspirants.
Department Programme is autonomous programme and in true sense, we are taking advantage of autonomy. Autonomy gives freedom to design the curriculum. While designing the curriculum, an enough care is taken to ensure that it is as per the need of today and futuristicmarket point of view. The curriculum is designed at par with the need of industry. The industry inputs are taken into consideration in each and every course. The Curriculum has features like Industry connect, research associations, semester long internship, live industry problem solving, electives, open elective to support interdisciplinary approach.
The current semester 2020-21 will be in online mode due to COVID-19 pandemic situation. We too have experience the shifting from regular classroom teaching towards virtual kind of online teaching, but for us at VIIT, it was smooth transition as partially during our content delivery we adapted flipped classroom, other teaching pedagogy and online assessment tools.
We will resume with our regular on campus teaching as soon as it is been notified by the Government of Maharashtra, adopted by SPPU and then again adopted by our institute.
