Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology (VIIT) established in 2002 is a self-financed Autonomous Institute, affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune. Institute received autonomy in the year 2017. Institute believes in the philosophy of academics goes together with research. Research and intellectual growth always fuel the academic growth.

The IPR cell caters to all the IP need for Undergraduate at Post-Graduate Students, faculties and research scholars in campus and industry partner who wishes to seek help from the institute in the regard.

The various activities that will be undertaken by the IPR cell include:

  • Disseminating awareness about IPR, Innovation, emerging fields in technology domain within the campus, affiliated colleges of SPPU and spoke centres of DIC and promoting a culture of Innovation and IP.
  • Providing support in terms of filling and managing entire prosecution of patents, copyrights, trademarks, design patents for the potential IP aspirants.
  • Assess ideas for IP commercialization potential.
  • Provide IP, Innovation and technology training through different available channels.
  • Manage Ips and Joint patenting, Conduct IP audits, technology transfer, etc activities for the potential aspirants.

Highlights:

  • IPRs filed in last three are 100+ Published Patents and total Granted Patents 50+ and increasing.
  • International patents 38 Out of which 31 Australian and 07 are South African
  • Technology Transfer to Govt. of Maharashtra for Android Application
  • Total Number of Copyrights in last three years are 140.
  • Accredited by NAAC and has received 'A' Grade with a CGPA of 3.14 in the year 2016.
  • Autonomous status awarded to the Institute w.e.f. Academic Year 2017-18 including
  • "PLATINUM" rating in AICTE-CII Survey of Industry Linked Technical Institutes
  • NIRF Innovation Ranking Band 51 - 100

Institute has organized one day webinar on Intellectual Property Awareness Program under National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NiPAM) in association with Intellectual Property Office, Mumbai on 23rd March 2022.

This webinar was organized by the IPR Cell of the institute. Total 750 participants has attended this webinar. Speaker was Dr. Ajay Thakur, Assistant Controller Patents and Design, Mumbai Patent Office.
